Home and Family

“Having a place to go is HOME. Having someone to love is FAMILY. Having both is a BLESING.”

This is on my grandma’s wall and is so true and meaningful. A home doesn’t have to be a house it can be anything you want it to be. It is just a place to go and be at. It’s a place to rest and sleep. Some people’s homes are a house and where they live. Other people’s homes are places were they go to get away from their house. Homes can be anything were you can. I believe it’s also a place for safety. Family is someone that loves you. Family doesn’t have to be through blood. Doesn’t have to be parents or siblings. Family just has to be a bond between two or more people. I even believe that family can be with animals. I believe that my bowling team and golf teams are families because we all want the best for each other. Also families are people that have a love hate relationship. Mostly love though. Having both is truly a blessing. It means that you have a place that you belong and feel safe and you have people that love you and you love them. Remember that these things are not forced on you. You have to be able to create this place called home and love these people called family.

White Christmas

“I’m dreaming of a white Christmas just like the ones I used to know where treetops glisten and children listen to hear sleigh bells in the snow.” – White Christmas

Most people that have experienced a white Christmas will never want to go another year without one. I have grown up in Iowa my whole life so there is usually snow during Christmas time and usually a lot before it too. Even though Iowa has snow Missouri usually doesn’t. I usually spend my Christmas in Missouri with both sides of my family. In Missouri there isn’t a whole lot of snow during the whole winter but there is still always some. There has been a few years were there has been snow but for the most part there hasn’t been lots of it on the ground for Christmas. To me I just don’t have that feeling of Christmas and the cold when it is 50 degrees. It just has a weird feeling to it, but its still Christmas and other places are like this every year.

Places that are farther south usually never have snow during Christmas if they even have snow at all for the year. Many people there have never even seen snow at all. I have thought about how these people feel if they watch movies during Christmas time. Most of the movies have snow in it so they can’t really relate to them. Other then movies, Santa is a huge thing and he is usually depicted with a snowfall. My question that I keep asking is if down south do they have a different Christmas economy then here in Iowa/ Missouri.

This will probably be something that I would like to look into sometime because it’s a very interesting thing to think about. I bet I will never understand how they feel because I have seen snow, a lot, and I will most likely never live in a place that never has snow. I will always want a white Christmas but if I don’t get that at least I would like some snow sometime within the winter.

Dr. Seuss Quotes

Dr. Seuss has some of the best quotes in the world. They don't just sound cool but they also have a very inspirational feel to them. Here are some of my favorites and why they can be inspirational.

1. "Today you are You, that is truer then true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You." This is honestly my favorite quote. It reminds me that I am one of a kind and that no one else is like me. It also reminds me that everyone is one of a kind and that you don't have to be like others because no one is the same; everyone is unique.

2. "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose." Everyone has a brain and almost everyone has shoes on their feet. These are the only two things you need to go places in the world. Everyone has a choice of which way to go and which direction they want to take their life.

3. "It is better to know how to learn than to know." This is so true. Some people are naturally smart so they don't have motivation or ways to learn but some day in their life they will have to learn how to do something new and they may not be able to do it. Also if you don't know a whole lot then in order to learn you have to be able to apply yourself and learn how to do something you can’t.

4. "A person's a person, no matter how small." When I think of this I think of minorities or people that aren't the most popular or they have a disability. They are still people. We still need to treat them the same and not look at them like they are aliens.

5. "I meant what I said and I said what I meant." Even if someone doesn't think things through they still meant what they said. It is the person that is receiving the message that has to interpret it and make the meaning different. In our world this can get many people into trouble because others can’t always understand what they are trying to get at.

6. "Teeth are always in style." This is so true. I believe that everyone should constantly smile because life is amazing and you have to make the best out of all situations.

7. "From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere." Even though this is supposed to be a cute little rhyme quote, it has meaning behind it too. I see it as through our journeys both good and bad there are going to be funny things on the way or things that make us laugh. Laughing is one of the most important things in the world because it makes us feel good inside and out.

8. “Step with care and great tact. And remember that life’s a great balancing act.” This is so true. We have to watch where we step and how we do things so we don’t go over board and fall off our balancing board of life.

9. “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot. Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” When I read this it helps me remember that even though I’m just one person I have the ability to do so much. It only takes one person to make a difference in the world.

These are just a few of the many amazing quotes that Dr. Seuss has written. All these quotes are inspirational with life meaning. I believe that more people should think about these quotes because they could bring more meaning to their life.

Faith in a Chair

Have you ever sat down and the chair either broke, someone took it away or there just wasn’t a chair there? If this has happened to you then you probably fell. For a while after you were probably very hesitant on sitting down. This hesitation is not always a good thing but also not a bad thing either. Hesitation is in someone’s life makes him or her very closed and not really open to wanting to “sit” again.

After this hesitation it could take a while to be comfortable again. With chairs it is really hard to not sit again but if a person took it out from under you then obviously it’s going to be harder to trust that person again. There will be that awkward leaning back and holding the chair before you sit down. This way it’s for sure that the chair is there.

This can relate to lots of things because in different components of life we have the hesitations at first and then we have to get through it but over times it goes away and what was bad isn’t anymore. This happens with siblings and how they hurt you but you go through that proses of getting to love them again. It happens when you might hurt yourself and you get very worried about doing it again until you either forget about it or you hurt yourself over again.

Hesitation and having faith go hand in hand lots of times. Along with faith we also have to have hesitations. With God we have to have faith in Him but at first and through out there will always be that feeling of hesitation in him and this isn’t a bad thing. We just have to remember the God is there, just like that chair; once it awhile stuff gets messed up but we have to stand back up and keep on having faith.

Wi-Fi

“Faith is like Wi-Fi, it’s invisible but has the power to connect you to what you need.”

This is one of the best similes I have ever really saw when it comes to faith and having it relate to something that my generation would understand a bit easier. Today so many people don’t really understand how to believe in something they can’t see. But we have this phenomenon happen so often in our normal life that believing in God should be actually really easy and not questioned.

Today Wi-Fi is this invisible thing that no one quits understand. Well some people get it but the average person probably doesn’t know the science behind it. With this we have to trust that we will get what we need and that it comes through the air. This is the same when we talk on the phone with someone. There is no proof that the two phones are connected but somehow everything works out and its ok the conversation happens and there is usually no problem.

People don’t really think about these things like Wi-Fi and talking on the phone these days. They just ignore it and use Wi-Fi and never really have a second thought about it. They don’t really have to have faith in this happening because it is just something that happens. So why do people not believe in God/ harder to believe in Him. He isn’t there in the sense that we can see Him but there is definitely proof that He is there and that He is working for us.

I believe that people have trouble believing in God because they can’t really see that the things that happen in the world is all because of Him. They really can’t hear that “phone call” when they pray to God. Faith is something that is really hard. There may not always be proving unless you look for it. Wi-Fi is the same just the prove is a little bit easier so see.

Wi-Fi gets us what we need and this is the same with faith. Faith gets you what you need too. Having faith in God means that He is in your life. That’s a big deal because with God all things are possible. So remember to have faith in God and to know that its just like Wi-Fi in so many ways.
