There
are so many times in the bible where we are told not to be afraid. Being afraid
is definitely a feeling that most people have at various points in their lives.
Having strength and faith in God can help
us conquer fear. God will help us get over and/or through our fears. Some people’s fears are as small as being
afraid of a spider or as big as being afraid of the unknown. Fear can haunt us
forever. We have to remember though that God is with us and He doesn’t want us
to be afraid any more. Here are some of my favorite bible verses about not
being afraid:
Genesis
43:23 – He replied, “Rest assured, do not be afraid; your God and the God of
your father must have put treasure in your sacks for you; I received your
money.”
Exodus
20:20 – Moses said to the people, ‘Do not be afraid; for God has come only to
test you and to put the fear of him upon you so that you do not sin.’
Deuteronomy
20:1 – When you go out to war against your enemies, and see horses and
chariots, and army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them; for
the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy
31:6 – Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the
Lord your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.
Jeremiah
1:8 – Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, says the
Lord.
Luke
2:10 – But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for see – I am bringing
you good news of great joy for all the people:
Daniel
10:12 – He said to me, ‘Do not fear, Daniel, for the first day that you set
your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your
words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.
Daniel
10: 19 – He said, ‘Do not fear, greatly beloved, you are safe. Be strong and
courageous!’ When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, ‘Let my lord
speak, for you have strengthened me.’
Matthew
1:20 – But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared
to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take
Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
These
are just a few out of the many times the bible says to not be afraid. I have
read in many places that there are maybe 145 times that “have no fear” is in
the bible. This is just one person’s number so it may not be accurate but I
believe that the number of occurrences is around there because “fear” is
mentioned numerous times. Today and in the past as documented in the bible, all
fears are different. No two people have the exact same fear. So remember that God
is with you and that He wants you to not be afraid of anything because He is
with you.
